World hard game

It might be fashionably late to the fisticuffs party, but Tekken 8 came out swinging this year with one of the best entries in the franchise. Stacked with an impressive roster on day one and flexing graphical muscles that allow you to see every sinew before a haymaker finds its mark, Tekken 8 pushes the series forward with rewarding and aggressive gameplay.
Who would have thought that escorting a divine maiden down a mountain infested with demonic nightmare fuel could be so dangerous? In Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess, that trek requires you to master both action and strategy in your quest to purify a mountain of the corruption possessed by the ungrateful dead, and this marriage of two distinct genres creates a novel experience to enjoy.
Game 5 world series 2024
9:38 p.m. — The Dodgers are rallying! Smith reaches on a fielder’s choice to Volpe, Kiké advances to third and Edman gets to second. Kike’s slide is called safe after a throwing error by Volpe. The bases are loaded with no outs, and the Yankees make a mound visit.
For New York, Cole will take the mound for the second time this series as well. Despite the Game 1 loss, the Yankees ace pitched six strong innings, giving up just four hits and one earned run with four strikeouts and no walks. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged from Game 4.
With the bases loaded, Yankees ace Gerrit Cole responded with his best stuff of the evening to strike out Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani. It seemed Cole had completed a mesmerizing escape when Mookie Betts then hit a weak chopper to Anthony Rizzo at first base. Betts, though, hustled down the line. The ball took Rizzo just far enough from the bag that he could not complete the play himself. As Betts sprinted and touched the base with his left foot, Cole was frozen on the infield, failing to cover first in an inexplicable blunder. The Dodgers scored a run and still had the bases loaded. The rest is history: a Freddie Freeman single that scored two, then a Teoscar Hernández double that brought home two more and tied the game.
What also tracks: Three of the 10 most influential plays tonight, by win probability change, began with the baseball in Kahnle’s right hand. Kiké Hernández’s leadoff single stung (8.8 percent change). Tommy Edman’s infield single seriously hurt (12.1 percent). And walking Will Smith on four pitches (16.6 percent), well, that was basically ballgame.
The veteran closer threw a season-high 42 pitches — he’d only once thrown more than 26 in the regular season — and gave the Dodgers 2 1/3 scoreless innings on a night when their pitching staff was stretched beyond its limits by starter Jack Flaherty’s brief outing that ended after just four outs.
10:27 p.m. — PITCHING CHANGE. Rizzo walks after after getting Graterol to a 3-2 count as Volpe steps up with two on and two out. Trienen comes in for LA as their seventh arm of the night. Volpe grounds out to Lux and the inning ends with the Yankees back in front.
Game 1 world series
The speedy Chisholm singled off winning pitcher Blake Treinen and then stole second. Following an intentional walk to Anthony Rizzo, Chisholm swiped third base uncontested as Treinen was slow to the plate with Max Muncy playing deep at third.
And in the end, the Dodgers came out with a magical opening act in which Freeman gave off those Gibby goosebumps — almost to the minute (Gibson’s homer had landed at 8:38 p.m. local time, Freeman’s cleared the wall at 8:39).
Three times in Game 1 the Yankees gave away third base with poor defense, and twice it came back to bite them. In the first inning, Freeman’s double became a triple when Verdugo misplayed the ricochet off the sidewall in left field. In the fifth, Juan Soto turned Enrique Hernández’s double into a triple with a poor route in right field. Hernández then scored the game’s first run on Will Smith’s sacrifice fly.
As for the Dodgers, first baseman Freddie Freeman has played through a sprained right ankle and missed three games, but he should return for Game 1. Pitcher Alex Vesia missed the NLCS due to a right side injury but might be available for the World Series.
Meanwhile, it was another fantastic inning from Cole that saw no hard contact and ended with a strikeout of Shohei Ohtani. Cole has allowed just one hit with three strikeouts, and has (mostly) looked like the hurler that took home a Cy Young in 2023.
